Kesner New York 10014

The Kesner Mission

As a showcase for extraordinary men’s clothing, Kesner will be a destination for the consumer who seeks the practical and the luxurious, the timeless yet progressive. The store will feature pieces with the power to become indispensable to the wearer, from the designers and collections that are creating a new canon for menswear.

Kesner will house a thoughtful, well-edited mix of established yet singular brands, as well as serve as an incubator for new design talent and future cult favorites from the United States, Europe and Asia.

The Concept

Store owners Philip Silverman and Matthew Simon named Kesner in honor of their grandfather, Alfred Kesner. Says Matthew, “We named the store as a tribute to him, but also because we wanted the store and the collections in it to represent continuity, the evolution of tradition, and the importance of personal style.”

Philip adds, “In my career as a buyer, I always envisioned a place that was so well-edited and so conscientious about craftsmanship that even classic items, like beautifully-made suits, perfectly engineered outerwear, high-quality knits would feel like a discovery.” The brothers hope that by offering pieces that are modern yet dignified enough to last seasons and even generations, Kesner will become the resource for essential items with true character.

The store is located on Hudson Street at the corner of West 10th, in New York’s West Village. It features almost 1000 square feet of selling space over two floors, with tailored pieces upstairs and contemporary offerings below. The work of visionary architect Peter Pawlak and store design by Eric Lysdahl blend seamlessly to create a space that incorporates some of the historic neighborhood’s best features: its light and architectural dignity. The store design also allows for future installations of art, photography and exclusive collaborations that reflect the community, the store’s mission, and the passions and interests of its customers.
